For Therapists
At Silver Street Clinic we provide therapists with a private and quiet counselling space for themselves and their clients. We also provide therapists with the opportunity to develop and grow their private practice, whether this is alongside their current work position, to support them in making the jump from employed to self-employed, or if they are looking to continue their private practice but want to be a part of something more. We have a network of 25 therapists who work with us in different capacities, and the clinic offers a common ground whereby therapists can feel less secluded, cross-refer clients to find the best treatments for them, as well as rely on the clinic to help re-allocate clients if they don’t have availability, meaning they are receiving the best and most comprehensive care.
Consulting Rooms for Hire
The clinic has a suite of comfortably furnished, well-lit counselling rooms available to therapists to hire by the hour. We have 5 rooms available, all of which are suitable for individual or couple therapy and we also have space for family / small group therapy.
All those hiring a room will be expected to complete a room hire agreement and to provide the clinic with documentation, including proof of registration with an appropriate professional body and insurance, all of which must be maintained. Please feel free to contact us regarding the pricing of room hire per hour, as well as further information surrounding our room booking guidelines and contract.
Are you a therapist already working in or considering working in private practice? Get in touch to discuss room hire.
Client Referrals
Whilst some therapists only hire a room to see their own clients, we also refer clients to therapists who meet our criteria and have signed our Practicing Privileges Agreement. All therapists remain self-employed and accountable for their practice, however, we ensure any therapists we refer to hold the appropriate qualifications, are registered with recognised professional bodies, have current professional indemnity insurance and public liability insurance and that all are renewed regularly.
In addition, we do our best to ensure those we refer to, have the experience and skill set in their field of practice so that we can be confident that they can offer clients a service that aligns with our mission and provide high-quality professional therapy. Many of our therapists have come on recommendation from other respected therapists, and at the very least, we will have met with the therapist and spent some time getting to know them. Some of the therapists who meet our criteria and, who also wish to, are listed on the ‘Our Clinicians’ page of our website.
We are currently looking for therapists to join our team and receive referrals from us. If you are interested in learning more about the possibility of client referral, feel free to get in touch.
Professional Supervision
Some of the therapists who work at Silver Street Clinic are also clinical/professional supervisors. Those offering professional supervision can do so in CBT, EMDR and provide supervision to newly qualified counsellors (adult/children). We have professionals working from the Clinic with mental health nursing, psychology and psychotherapy backgrounds who specialise in many areas of mental health including trauma, anxiety, depression, loss, stress, couple counselling, psychosexual issues and child and adolescent work.
New to Private Practice?
If you are considering moving into private practice and just want to ‘dip your toe in the water’ Silver Street Clinic could be the place for you to make that transition. It can be daunting ‘going it alone and moving from an employed post with a supporting team to working alone. For some, this feels like a big leap. However, although all therapists working from Silver Street do so as self-employed individuals, we consider ourselves a family and many of our therapists will share advice or refer to each other if they don’t have space soon enough for a client or who require a different speciality. We can also help with advice about becoming self-employed, because, well we’ve all been in exactly the same position!
Requirements / Disclosure and Barring Service
We require all therapists to provide us with copies of their relevant qualifications, an up-to-date DBS certificate (within the last 3 years), a Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance Certificate (renewed yearly), and a form of ID (passport/driver’s license) prior to starting work with us.
We expect all those using the clinic to have a valid Enhanced DBS. We can help therapists apply for this if they haven’t already got one, or, should your previous one be out-of-date. A DBS renewal is required every 3 years unless you have signed up for the update service. Once you have received your DBS certificate you can go to the government website to set this up within 30 days, so you don’t have to worry about your certificate running out. Find out more here.
