Client Referrals
At Silver Street Clinic, we offer therapists a private, quiet, and professional space to conduct counselling sessions with clients. In addition to providing a relaxed environment, we offer therapists the chance to grow and develop their private practice—whether balancing this with a current position, transitioning from employed to self-employed, or seeking to enhance their existing practice by being part of a supportive community.
With a network of over 25 therapists working in various capacities, our clinic fosters collaboration and connection. We provide a common ground where therapists can feel less isolated, cross-refer clients to ensure the best treatment options and trust the clinic to help re-allocate clients if their availability is limited. This collaborative approach ensures clients receive the most comprehensive care possible.
While some therapists simply rent a room to see their clients, we also refer clients to therapists who meet our standards.
All therapists remain self-employed and are fully accountable for their practice. However, we ensure those we refer to are highly qualified, registered with recognised professional bodies, and hold valid professional indemnity and public liability insurance, which we monitor and renew regularly.
We take great care in vetting therapists to ensure they possess the expertise and experience to align with our mission of delivering high-quality, professional therapy. Many of our therapists come recommended by other respected professionals in the field. At the very least, we meet with therapists and spend time getting to know them before any referrals are made. For those who meet our criteria and wish to, we also feature them on our ‘Our Practitioners’ page.
We are currently looking to expand our team of therapists and offer client referrals. If you're interested in learning more about this opportunity, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Common Questions
New to Private Practice?
If you are considering moving into private practice and just want to ‘dip your toe in the water’ Silver Street Clinic could be the place for you to make that transition. It can be daunting ‘going it alone' and moving from an employed post with a supporting team to working alone. For some, this feels like a big leap. However, although all therapists working from Silver Street do so as self-employed individuals, we consider ourselves a family and many of our therapists will share advice or refer to each other if they don’t have space soon enough for a client or who require a different speciality. We can also help with advice about becoming self-employed, because, well we’ve all been in exactly the same position!
Do you offer Professional Supervision?
Some of the therapists who work at Silver Street Clinic are also clinical/professional supervisors. Those offering professional supervision can do so in CBT, EMDR and provide supervision to newly qualified counsellors (adult/children). We have professionals working from the Clinic with mental health nursing, psychology and psychotherapy backgrounds who specialise in many areas of mental health including trauma, anxiety, depression, loss, stress, couple counselling, psychosexual issues and child and adolescent work.
What do you need from me to get started?
We require all therapists to provide us with copies of their relevant qualifications, an up-to-date DBS certificate (within the last 3 years), a Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance Certificate (renewed yearly), and a form of ID (passport/driver’s license) prior to starting work with us.
We expect all those using the clinic to have a valid Enhanced DBS. We can help therapists apply for this if they haven’t already got one, or, should your previous one be out-of-date. A DBS renewal is required every 3 years unless you have signed up for the update service. Once you have received your DBS certificate you can go to the government website to set this up within 30 days, so you don’t have to worry about your certificate running out.
